Whimsy Bedroom
WILTSHIRE,UK
"The perfect balance of kitsch, farm house and mid-century comes together to create a soft and whimsical bedroom"

The room was set within a Victorian house, and the client had a real love for period interiors and drama-inspired aesthetics. She wanted the space to reflect that—romantic and characterful—but still feel neutral and balanced, especially as it was shared with her partner, whose taste leaned a little less whimsical.
I started by sourcing a wrought iron bed to act as the focal point. It was dressed with a relaxed, sheer linen canopy, which helped frame the bed while subtly adding height and a sense of intimacy to the space. This became the most overtly Victorian element, alongside the patterns and tones used in the bedding.
To keep things from feeling overly ornate, I balanced this with more minimal, mid-century pieces, creating a contrast that kept the room grounded and liveable. For the colour palette, we took inspiration from a piece of artwork she loved, which was positioned above the bed and helped tie everything together.
The result is a space that nods to Victorian romance without feeling overly decorative—soft, calm, and layered in a way that works for both of them
